Objectives

General objective:

After completing this module, the student/applicant will be able to:
- Describe and explain how satellite navigation augmented with current and next generation satellite augmentation systems (ABAS, GBAS and SBAS) may be used for commercial aircraft navigation.
- Assess GNSS augmented systems performance with respect to the ICAO's Signal in Space requirements.
- Describe the airborne architecture.

Detailed objectives:

After completing this module, the student/applicant will be able to:
- Interpret the ICAO’s Signal In Space requirements
- Explain the GNSS Signal In Space integrity concept
- Describe and explain GNSS signals integrity monitoring mechanisms of ABAS, GBAS and SBAS augmentations
- Interpret the protection Level computation for each of these augmentations
- List GNSS programmes evolution
- Describe GNSS signal vulnerabilities
