Objectives

General objective:

The first objective of this module is to provide the student with the basic knowledge and comprehension of the key principles and techniques related to safety risk management and safety data management in the aviation system framework.
After completing this course, the student will be able to explain and justify the technics and methods most commonly used in Aviation to ensure the safe operation of aircraft.

The domain modules will complement this generic approach by more detailed and concrete examples of methods and tools.

The second objective is to provide the student with basics of auditing and facilitating techniques to apply in working situations.

Detailed objectives:

After completing this module, the student will be able to:

On “Safety Risk Management”
- Explain the high level principles and techniques of Risk Management and illustrate them by key examples in aviation safety
- Identify the relevant methods and tools that can be used at each step of risk management, in particular for analyzing and assessing aviation safety risks
- Analyze the risks associated with change

On « Safety Data Management »
- Describe the safety data collection system and reporting channels of the overall aviation system
- Describe the safety data management methods and tools that can be used, including their respective benefits and shortfalls. A specific focus will be done on safety data analysis

On “Auditing and Facilitating techniques:
- Explain the principles of auditing
- Translate the audit methods and tools into the Safety Management context
- Use some facilitating methods and tools for preparing a meeting, a brainstorming session or a workshop
- Recognize meeting or brainstorming situations where facilitating technics can apply
