Objectives

General objective:

Upon completion of this course, the student shall be able to:
- Describe the operation of engines (turbofans, turboprops) and their limitations
- Explain how the propulsion systems are integrated on aircraft.

Detailed objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student shall be able to:
- Describe the architecture and the operation of engines (turbofans, turboprops) and of the associated propulsion systems.
- Quote and define the main applicable requirements for the engines certification (CS-E).
- Explain the rationale for these requirements, and the impact onto the architecture of engines.
- Propose a certification plan for a change to be introduced onto an engine.
- Describe the physical integration of an engine onto an aircraft (nacelle, fuel / oil circuits …).
- Describe the electronic integration of an engine onto an aircraft (FADEC, surveillance parameters …).
