Objectifs

Objectif général :

After completing this module, the student/applicant will be able to:
- explain the basic principles associated with flight mechanics, navigation and operational
performance, list the main characteristics of engines
- list main airborne navigation operations & means
- describe large aircraft cockpit layout, piloting interfaces and associated avionics functions.

Objectifs détaillés :

After completing this module, the student/applicant will be able to:
- For "The Aircraft" part:
o understand the main physical phenomena involved in flight
o identify the flight envelope limitations
o explain basic notions dealing with aircraft navigation around the earth
o explain aircraft operational performances and limitations
o identify the main types & characteristics of powerplant.
- For "Introduction to avionic systems" part:
o describe main airborne navigation operations & means: conventional radio-navigation,
area navigation (RNAV)
o Large aircraft cockpit environment
- list main crew tasks
- describe cockpit layout
- name flight instruments & pilot interfaces
- describe PFD, ND, ECAM & overhead panel
- describe electrical flight control systems architecture & laws
- describe architecture, modes and interfaces of auto-pilot and flight director
- list auto-pilot certification requirements
- describe FMS architecture and list the associated functions
- describe airborne communication & surveillance means
