Objectives

General objective:

After completing this module, the student will be able to :
- Describe the different concepts of airport passenger terminal buildings,
- Explain how to evaluate the functional requirements within a PTB (passenger flows, baggage flows)
- Compare the methods used to size a PTB, to evaluate the capacity of a PTB and to manage a PTB design study

Detailed objectives:

After completing this module, the student will be able to :
- Evaluate the different concepts of airport passenger terminal buildings (PTB),
- Explain their main characteristics and functions, and the principles for managing passenger and baggage flows
- Explain the sizing/capacity assessment techniques of PTBs
- Determine the key parameters affecting PTBs capacity, PTBs sizing, level of service and customer experience for passengers
- Describe the different specific airport systems (baggage systems, security systems, apron equipment)
- Compare different design projects of a PTB
- Highlight the major stakeholders involved in a PTB design and build project
- Anticipate the future trends in airport PTB design
