Objectives

General objective:

After completing this module, the student will be able to :
- Describe the functions, activities and services of ground handlers and the relationship with the airlines and the airport authorities.
- Explain the organization of the market and to describe which are the main actors of this market
Evaluate the quality of service and socio-economical impact of ground handling, and the competition in this field.

Detailed objectives:

After completing this module, the student will be able to :
- Describe and use the bases of ground handling : definition, history, market, activities
- Describe the passenger, cargo and ramp handling services and to explain there main issues
- Use and apply properly reference documents (IATA Documents like AHM and SGHA, European and French aviation and labor regulations…)
- Evaluate the quality of service related to each type of ground handling activities
- Identify the risks related to each type of ground handling activities (safety, security, health, environment, commercial, operational, human factors) and to propose appropriate mitigations measures
- Evaluate the human resources needs (trainings, recruitment, salaries, work organizations…) for ground handling staff
- Evaluate the Ground Service Equipment needs
- Evaluate the costs, to set prices and to optimize the profitability of ground handling activities
- Compare ground handling management solutions
Participate to commercial, purchase and labor agreements negotiations in ground handling
