Objectives

General objective:

After completing this module, the student will be able to:
• Work in teams on SMS development, covering both design and production aspects, from a complete analysis of its organisation and its environment, from the understanding of its characteristics, and by taking into account the regulatory requirements.
• Implement and drive the SMS.
• Assess and update the SMS

Detailed objectives:

After completing this module, the student will be able to:
• Analyse the characteristics of a manufacturer’s organisation: Design and production aspects such as DOA (Design Organisation Approval) and POA (Production Organisation Approval ), Management of suppliers and other manufacturers (ex: engine manufacturers)
• Understand the potential integration of several SMS (ex: Part 145, Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation, Approved Training Organisation …)
• Analyse the hazards and manage the risks associated with the manufacturer’s activities and the risks inherent to the organisation itself
• Understand the two levels of safety management: at manufacturer organisation level and at aircraft product level
• Frame aircraft safety action plans integrating all levers at organisation and product levels.
• Organize an efficient data collection and data analysis system:
• Construct the frame of reference for the SMS and write the associated documents
• Identify the right indicators and analyse the SMS results and measure the safety performance
