AV4008 - Overviews of flight guidance systems
Objectives
General objective:
At the end of the course, the students will be able to describe the guidance and control systems of a modern airliner and explain the regulatory aspects.
Detailed objectives:
At the end of this course the students will be able to:
Describe a GCN (guidance, control, and navigation) system, its functions and components
Describe the life cycle of aircraft systems
Describe the evolution of cockpits, in particular the control and display interfaces related to GCN functions
Describe a flight control system and explain the differences between conventional flight control systems and fly-by-wire flight control systems
Describe the operational principles of fly-by-wire systems
Describe the operational principles of autopilot systems
Describe the operational principles of engine control
Describe regulatory aspects related to flight safety and the reliability of aircraft systems
Describe technical, operational, and regulatory aspects related to automatic landing
