Objectives

General objective:

At the end of this course, the student will be able to describe the principles of the autopilot function, based on an Airbus A320

Detailed objectives:

- Explain the functioning principles of the autopilot
- Identify the cockpit interfaces related to automatic flight
- Identify the systems related to automatic flight and the functions allocated to each of them
- Identify the interfaces between those systems and the other avionics systems
- Describe the functioning modes of auto-thrust
- Describe the functioning modes of the guidance function (lateral and vertical) of the autopilot
- Describe the flight planning, navigation, performances optimisation and prediction functions of the FMS
