AV4011 - BE Design of an avionics function
Objectives
General objective:
At the end of this course, the students will be able to conceptualize a new avionics function, to be integrated into an existing cockpit, and to write the operational requirements.
Detailed objectives:
At the end of this course, the students will be able to:
Capture operational needs from users (pilots)
Consider various constraints (regulatory, economic, cockpit philosophy, etc.) in the design of an avionics function
Consider various opportunities (existing functionalities and operational procedures) in the design of an avionics function
Distinguish between an operational need and a technical solution
Conduct a preliminary impact analysis of a technical solution to establish its feasibility and estimate costs (qualitatively)
Write requirements to formalize operational needs
Each group will work by emulating the working methods used in an aircraft manufacturer's design office.
A pilot will assist them in identifying operational needs, and a technical specialist will guide them in analyzing impacts and considering constraints and opportunities.
