AV5011 - Automatic Flight Controls
Objectives
General objective:
Identify the guidance, control and navigation systems of a civil transport aircraft and explain their interactions, functionalities and architecture.
Detailed objectives:
The students have to prepare a descriptive synthesis of guidance, control and navigation systems of a civil transport aircraft and analyse an operational case.
They will use the operational documentation provided by the aircraft manufacturer to the operators.
For the chosen aircraft, each group of students must:
- Explain the functional and physical architecture of guidance, control and navigation systems
- For each system, identify its components and cockpit interfaces
- Describe the functionalities allocated to each component.
- Identify the redundant components
- Explain the operational use of these systems
The following systems are addressed in this project: Radio navigation, GNSS, inertial navigation systems, air data reference systems, FMS, autopilot, flight director, auto thrust, flight controls
