EA4005 - Airport Design and Planning Project

Objectives

General objective:

At the end of the course, the student shall be able to propose modifications to an airport to allow the access of a new type of aircraft.

Detailed objectives:

The student shall be able to:
- use a CAD software (AutocCAD 2D - Pathplanner) and to apply it to a project,
- analyse data from different sources and academic fields (OPS, ATM...) in order to design a development programme,
- determine the best site for a new airport or the extension of an existing one,
- propose a relative positionning of airport buildings, in particular terminals, control tower and fire fighting department,
- explain the proedures, works and measures necessary to welcom a new aircraft on an airport platform,
- solve a study-case with the objective of elaborating an airport development plan based on existing infrastructures, traffic forecast and defined constraints.
