SH302 - Information research methodology
Objectives
General objective:
At the end of the course the students will know the main steps of an information search. They will be able to use different tools to get access to the document needed. Finally, they will be able to recognize several plagiarism situations and how to avoid it.
Detailed objectives:
At the end of the course the students:
-Will be able to describe the different steps of an information search.
-Will be able to start their search for their PIC project using the search information method presented.
-Will be able to explain what is the difference between citing their information sources and writing a state of the art.
-Will be able to use different services to look for documents (Archipel, Google Scholar, academic databases, open archives, interlibrary loan)
-Will be able to distinguish different search tools
-Will be able to find a document from its reference
-Will be able to recognize a plagiarism situation
-Will be able to write properly different kind of reference citations
-Will be able to write an in-text citation
-Will be able to source their illustrations
-Will know they can use a reference management software
-Will be able to create a bibliography using zoterobib
