RS5561 - Functional Design

RS5561 - Functional Design

Objectives

General objective:

At the end of this course, students will be able to define and to express functional and physical architectures of a complex system, as an answer to a set of user needs and technical requirements previously stated.

Detailed objectives:

To know the objectives and the inputs of the system architectural definition process.

To explain relationships between the architectural definition process and with the other system engineering processes.

To know how to express a functional architecture and a physical architecture using some dedicated languages.

To describe basic architectural patterns and to know how to use them in the solution definition process.

To draw the link between functional and physical architectures.

To know how to optimize the solution: to assess performances of several architectural solutions according to various criteria, and make justified architectural choices.

To enrich the initial set of requirements with new technical requirements derived from the architecture and with introduction of traceability links with the ser of needs.
