Objectives

General objective:

Upon completion of this course, the student may be able to:
- Understand basic knowledge about rotor aerodynamics
- Analyse the performance of a helicopter and identify conditions which limit
the performance of a helicopter

Detailed objectives:

Introduction to rotor dynamics (rotor hinges, rotor technology, helicopter control)
- Helicopter performance
1) generalities
2) required power: in hover and in level flight
3) available power; installation losses; main gearbox (MGB)
4) rotor limits
5) flight performance
6) mission performance
8) exercises using flight manual performance curves
