MT204 - BASIC Meteorology


General objective:

Learners shall describe how weather affects ATS operations and aircraft performances and apply meteorological information in the basic operational procedures of ATS.

Detailed objectives:

Learners shall describe and take into account :
- atmosphere,
- meteorological parameters describing the atmosphere: temperature, pressure, humidity, wind.
- barometric altimetry.
- the following meteors: clouds, precipitation.
- atmospheric circulation.
- air masses.
- frontal systems.
- local phenomena such as breezes, orographic waves, foehn effect, local winds in France.
- significant meteorological phenomena: phenomena reducing visibility, icing, turbulence, windshear, thunderstorms and cumulonimbus clouds, volcanic ash, solar storms.
- organisation of meteorological services,
- meteorological information for aviation: messages and weather charts.
