RG6004E - Certification Procedures

Objectifs

Objectif général :

Upon completion of this course, the student shall be able to explain the basic principles used to certify an aeronautical product, up to the delivery of the certificate of airworthiness to an individual aircraft, and to apply the related procedures on real cases.

Objectifs détaillés :

Upon completion of this course, the student shall be able to:
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders (industrials, international bodies) implied in the aircraft airworthiness and in the air transport safety
- Describe the ICAO principles for aircraft airworthiness and their implementation through European regulations
- Describe the Type Certification and Type Certificate Validation processes, and how the manufacturers establish their demonstration of of compliance
- Explain the EASA DOA and POA (design and production organization approval) concepts
- Identify on a study case ("leading theme" project, in semi-autonomy) the stakeholders involved in the various certification activities of an aircraft
- Describe the sequence of the different certification activities until the issuance of the Certificate of Airworthiness
- Research, deepen and interpret the Initial Airworthiness regulations as published by the main world aviation authorities.
